How the calculation works
One formula: new rent = current rent × (1 + rate ÷ 100). Example: 20,000 rent with a 40% increase → 20,000 × 1.40 = 28,000. Monthly difference 8,000; yearly difference 96,000. Results are rounded to two decimals.
Where to find the rate
For residential leases in Türkiye the legal cap is the 12-month CPI average published monthly by TurkStat. Commercial leases may follow different rules. This page is not legal advice: your lease and current legislation take precedence. More: how to calculate a rent increase.
Handling the conversation
Not leaving the increase to the last day, giving the rate in writing, and tying the new amount to the renewal record prevents most disputes. Step by step: rent increase & renewal plan. What to check when renewing: lease agreement checklist.
